Amit Shah to visit J&K for 3 days, arrive on April 6 | KNO

Likely to visit border areas; chair security, development review meetings, inaugurate projects

Srinagar, Apr 03 (KNO): Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be on a three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir from April 6, sources told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) on Thursday. They said that Shah will arrive in Jammu on April 6 and will stay there for 2-days. On April 7 evening, he will leave for Srinagar and stay there for a night. The Union Home Minister would return to New Delhi on April 8. Sources said that during his stay in Jammu, Shah is likely to visit some of the border areas and hold separate review meetings with senior officials of various security agencies and the local administration. “He (Shah) will discuss the progress made on various centrally sponsored developmental projects and discuss other important issues with the officials. Sources said that Shah will also review the security situation and will also inaugurate some projects in Jammu and Kashmir regions. “The security review meeting will be attended by senior officials of the Police, Army and other paramilitary forces,” they added. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is also likely to meet the Union Home Minister during his three-day visit to J&K, sources told KNO. Pertinently, on Tuesday Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had told reporters that the Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit is not linked to the anti-terror operation underway in Kathua and its neighbourhood. “Do not link his visit to the Kathua operation. His programme was finalised before the encounter. It is a coincidence that his visit comes around this time,” Omar had said—(KNO)
